Question: Error in qmail logs: cannot start: unable to switch to queue

Hello there. Can anyone please help? I am getting this error in my qmail log-files. I cannot send email via smtp. Cannot connect to smtp port (25) using telnet, e.g.:
telnet localhost 25
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to localhost.localdomain (127.0.0.1).
Escape character is '^]'.
Connection closed by foreign host.
