After checking the FAQs, I found an item about page access restrictions using Sessions. Is this the way websites using PHP restrict non-registered users from accessing member content? My customer wants to have part of his website opened only to registered users, something that I see other sites do but something I myself have never done before. We will be using Apache 1.3 on a Linux machine with PHP and MySQL.

Thanks in advance

well ... the FAQ tells you how, although it is a bit old.

here is a class that i started writing a while ago. it needs a (lot) of tidying up but it does work. it is a full (ish) featured user management class rather than just a page control. you can (obviously) use it as the latter only.

the last item in this post is an explanation of the various options available. it is in html form so you should save it as an htm and view it in a browser. This file contains a table config too, for your database.

there is also an example in the third code snip.

a zip file is available at

the above post reads somewhat schizophrenically. this is because I asked management to delete the code snip and they kindly did so.

please ignore the paras starting
"The last item..."
and
"there is also...

1 more reason, why we clamor a post editing feature.
