question about VS 2012 for win 8, I got something called Blend

I have a brand new HP Envy X2 tablet running full version of Windows 8.
I thought I downloaded Visual Studio 2012, but when I search for it and type Visual Studio when it launched is says Blend? then the title bar says "Blend for Visual Studio"? the program looks nothing like Visual Studio 2010. and the projects are not what I am used to. I want to make apps for Windows 8, specifically this tablet and my Windows 8 phone. But Have no idea where to start.
now the tool bar is called Assets? I guess.
