I was thinking about purchasing the ATI Radeon ALL IN WONDER 9800 PRO. I found out it has a TV Tuner in it. I have a couple of questions. First off, I was wondering how it receives the television signal. I don't have cable. All I have is broadcast TV. Does the card actually pick up the TV signals, or do I have to hook cable or something like that up to it in order to record TV. My second question is, I was wondering if there is a tv tuner card that can be stuck into a laptop (ie. through PCMCIA or something like that) so that I can watch on the go. Thanks for your help!

You can use the broadcast TV signals to feed the AllInWonder. This is my setup (with an AIW9600XT), and it works fine.

If your laptop has a USB 2.0 port, then take a look at , they have a USB TV tuner.

ATi also makes a usb tv tuner, though I don't know if they've updated their design for a while. I tried out an ATi tv tuner meant for USB 1 interface, and that interface is just way too slow for video transfer, it was below worthless. USB 2 on the other hand does provide sufficient speeds for video transfer.

All these cards take a coax input for tv signals, just like the tv's do.

For Terestrial all you need is an aerial connected to recieve TV broadcast.
Just like a TV tuner it will go through a setup?tune mode when first plugged in to locate available stations.
Just like normal TV, the better the aerial the better the signal.
Those external USB2 TV breakout box's make good sense and offer all sorts of additional connectivity
Here is one example:
