Question about the client !

Hi,
if a specific document is available through the citrix ica client ( ie: a word document -> test.doc ), is it possible to execute the local word ( installed onto the pc ) when we click onto the distant file ?

in a few words, is it possible to make an association between a distant file and a local application ?

yes,
if you are using metaframe XP and you publish the word document as published content this will fire off the app on the local machine.

It wouldn't be worth doing this as you would cause alsorts of problems.

Word (for example) if not loaded on your Citrix System wouldn't run correctly as it would be missing loads of files, plus, on a slow link, it has to read your local PC's executable, and then execute it, what's the point? You loose the essence of Citrix!

However, if you want to run Word in Citrix and access the files from your PC, as beltane suggests, this would work!

Also, if your users are on dial-up or even slower than T1, just opening and saving the file will take a long time.
