Hi, thanks for taking the time to read this question. I'm setting up a small network using a windows 2000 server. I don't have much previous experience with networks and need some advice. The server is running on a small office network but it also needs to send files to and obtain files from computers located at stores throughout the town. In the past these stores have dialled into our ISP and upload their files to an FTP site there, after which the the server would connect to the ISP and download the files. We would now like the stores to dial directly into the server to send these files. I have set up an FTP site on the server which I can connect to anonymously but the only way I can access the site using a username and password is to make that user account part of the Administrators group and give it operator privelages on the FTP site. Is this the best way to do things? I'm concered about giving administrator privelages to remote users. Would it be better to skip the FTP site altogether and just connect to the network remotely and copy the files? The whole process needs to be able to automated so that it can be scheduled to run at night. Thanks very much for your time.
