I’ve been noticing in our SCN (running over a VPN) that the user directory information doesn’t sync across sites anymore. This information used to sync on an older release and over the same VPN. You can place calls back and forth with no problem. The main site is an IPO 412 3.1(56) and the other site is an IPO 403 3.1(5602).

In running system monitor on the 403, I’m seeing the following:

It looks as if the 403 isn’t receiving any data. The 412 constantly sends out “PRN: VPNN: PBX c0a8011e Not Responding or Reset” when the AVRIP receive count gets to 6 or 7. The other strange thing I’m seeing is that the 412 is sending out TFTP data for Extn 1137 and the DSS button programming associated with it. There is nothing special about this extension, it’s just a regular user.

When SCN is running as it should, is it normal for this information to come up in the system monitor (in other words are these errors)? Does anyone have any suggestions on what might be preventing the synchronization of the internal directories?
 
Have you tried with 3.1(56) at both sites >? You may also wish to try 3.1(65) gen answer I know but if it was working and not it is not I would be looking at IPO Firmware / software or router/vpn change.

If in Sys-Monitor with Dev Tracing enabled, under status and Small Community Networking do you see the Sites in SCN correctly including all users at all sites ?

To the best of my knowledge SCN has remained much the same since day 1 in regard to the AVRIP's being sent and received.

If it was me I would be testing with a SOE if possable to also rule out any software curruption in the Config File. I would run the config via Wizard <3.2 and Manager if you have access to 3.2 software and resolve any errors which are highlighted.

What hardware is in place and what VPN kit are you using to create the VPN ?

I have a simulair problem with a small office 3.1.48 and 406v2 3.1.65. We will upgrade the small office tomorrow and expect the problem to be gone. I'll let you know/

I ran the update to 3.1(65) on both systems over the weekend and there was no change.

As far as looking up the SCN sites in Sys-Monitor, I do see both. When monitoring the 412 site I see data for RIP Send / Receive Count and Advertised. When monitoring the 403 site all I see is data for RIP Send Count, which keeps increasing.

I ran the config via the wizard and the only error that came up was a line number range overlaps with users, which isn’t the case. This happened with both configs. I wish I had another system to test on, but I don’t.

As far as hardware goes, at the 412 site there is a Cisco PIX and at the 403 site there is a Juniper Netscreen. The PIX is connected to a T1 and the Netscreen is connected to a 7 Mb cable line. On the PIX, I know all of the fixups have been turned off. What gets me is that it has worked in the past just fine and no changes have been made to the PIX other than turning the fixups off.
