Question about SAV on a non-dedicated server

I'd like to know if Symantec Antivirus 10.1 runs as a service and whether or not it will run successfully on a PC that might occasionally be used by a regular user. That is I'd like to start the service as administator and log off. I want the services to continue to run even if a regular user would need to log on to the machine for some other purpose. I'm only serving 10 clients and I don't have an extra PC that is not a dedicated server to run this application on.
