Question about roles & responsibilities

Its funny how some view BI as encompassing DW (and data integration and processes such as MDM, ODS etc), and others classify BI as merely the presentation layer of an overall reporting solution. Is there general and accepted consensus and direction on this topic that right now seems to still be unsettled?

BI analysts, BI mgt....DW specialists, BI architects, DW architects, ..these are among a few BI-DW job titles that should link to clear roles & responsibilities for cont'd project success, mkt salary alignment, and wider adoption and uptake of BI-DW in organizations.

Appreciate any shared insights.

I have encountered the same phenomenon.
Within one organisation there usually is consensus about the terms in use, but across organisations there is not.

I guess it has to do with the school of thinking of the people that originally introduced datawarehousing and BI in an organisation.

And you should always be aware of the same (or very similar) jobtitles with a rather (sometimes very) different meaning. In my opinion you can not compare on job-title alone. You need the job description. You might be able to get a list of responsibilities and create a matrix between job-titles and responsibilities within an organisation. That way you can identify missing and double responsibilities.
When identifying the need for an additional role, I think you should adhere to the job-titles already in place and find a name that fits both the organisation and the reponsibilities.
