I've never had video on my websites before. My customer wants to have a space on his home page that will play various videos that he supplies to me in a continuous loop. Does anyone know a good website I can visit to learn to do this?

When faced with a decision, always ask, 'Which would be the most fun?'

I'll back up the cows suggestion of Flash video, its really the only way to go.

There are a whole load of flash encoders around, just google for them .flv is the file extesion you'll want to poke around for.

I use the Flix engine in my application, it allows server side encoding, but its pretty expensive.

If you are only doing the odd one or two, then i would reccomend using a batch desktop app and doing the encoding your self.

Hope that helps,

Rob

I have used Flash for shorter videos. I import the file and then convert it to a flash file. I don't know much about flash but this works. I can convert a 20mb file to about 6 mb. Thid is for a musician so I need to keep the sound and video as good quality.

Recently I was able to convert a half hour tv show a friend was on..I got it as a VHS tape, converted it to a DVD, then brought it into Quicktime Pro and converted it to a streaming file. Load time is about 3 seconds! and this is NOT a streaming server. Am I happy?? yes!

I did this on my new MacBook Pro. After being on the PC platform since 1985 (yes, DOS too), the mac platform has renewed my love of computing. So easy and simple...Linux-based..no blue screens, no registry, no memory leaks.

I am in love again!
