Question About Parameters and Record Selection

I am using Crystal Reports 9 to create a pretty basic report. One of the fields on the report is a due date field. That field is a date that a numbered job step is due to be completed.

Using the Select Expert tool, I specified a job step number for which I wanted the due dates to appear in the due date field.

I'd like to modify the report so that the user can select the job step number, vs me specifying it via the Select Expert tool. I added a parameter for the job step number, but even when changed, it has no effect on the dates displayed in the due date column.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me on how to make this work? Thanks in advance for your time.

Try if you can suppress the due date field when job step number={?JobStepNumber} as follows:

Right click due date field--> Format field. In Common tab, click on the X-2 button on the right side of Suppress
{YourDataField}<>{?JobStepNumber}

OK,I believe I have this straightened out. I changed how I was using the Select Expert tool. Instead of specifying a job step number with the Select Expert tool, I instead specified the parameter I had created using the Select Expert tool.

On the subject of parameters, it seems by default it displays a number with a decimal point. Is there a way to suppress the decimal point?

Right click parameter field and select Format Field. In Common tab, select -1123.

Thanks for the suggestions Betty. I have the field data displays correctly now. I couldn't get the suggestion you gave me - {YourDataField}<>{?JobStepNumber} - to work. What ever data was there was suppressed. Was the solution I implemented, choosing the parameter I had created using the Select Expert tool, the wrong way to get the report to work?

Disregard that post since the problem was occurring because you were not selecting the parameter in the select expert (as mentioned in your post at 17:40).
