I am resposible for a small 100Mbs ethernet client/server network. We have a total of 10 clients and we are going to move 4 clients to a far corner of our building.

Can I run a single cable from our existing hub to the new area and plug it into a new hub and then plug the relocated clients into the new hub?

The new hub will be about 140 feet from the existing hub. The cable runs from the new hub to the clients will be less than 20 feet.

Thank you in advance for any advice.

If under 328', there should not be a problem.
Use a cross-over pinning for the hub-2-hub connection.

bcastner,

Thanks for the information.

Why not envision the future ? If you are moving 4 clients now,how many more will be playing musical pc's ?
This might be the time to invest in some infrastructure.

netmanrick,

These 4 PCs will be the only ones to move and the move itself is just temporary.

Thanks for the suggestion.
