Can someone please clarify the following for me.. If there is NO PCMCIA card in a Merlin Messaging, Release 4.0 (or any release for that matter), does this mean that the unit is a 2-port voicemail, or a 0-port voicemail? I've been seeing Release 4.0 Merlin Messaging for sale, with a 2-port card included? Why would you need a 2-port card, when the system has 2-ports already available, without a card?

Any clarification is greatly appreciated!

No card = no ports. The card is a licensing card for whatever number of ports you bought.

The very original Magix Messaging for Legend R1.0 - in the white Legend case only (no grey)- I believe - worked on 2 ports without the license card. The model# was 517A49. When they came out with the real Magix version R1.1 (617A49)- you needed a license card for it to work at all - or it stayed in test mode. The same was true for all later releases of Magix Messaging.
