Question about importing pngs

I greated a vector image in illustrator and then exported it to a .png file with a transparent background.

When I place the .png in inDesign the png become pixelated?

What am I doing wrong.

PNG is a bitmap format. You should export your art from Illustrator as PDF, AI, or EPS. These formats support vector art.
