First let me apologize for the newbieness that I will be displaying :). I just got put in charge of the phone system about 2 months ago and this is the first real problem that I’ve been unable to figure out on my own. I’ve been unable to find any real answers in the 14 different Meridian books that we have so hopefully someone here and toss me an idea.

We are running a Meridian 1 system with X11 software and I do most of the administration via MAT 6.5 (as far as adding numbers, changing names, etc etc). Here is the problem I’m facing:

Everyone who has a DID line also has a secondary rollover line. My mission is when a caller calls one of our staffs main DID numbers, if it is busy, have the call auto-forward to their rollover, where either they can put the first call on hold to answer OR their secretaries have the ability to answer, however if no one answers the rollover line, the caller gets placed directly in the DID voice mail.

Their rollover line is directly above their main DID number on the phone so I was thinking that I would be able to try a short hunt that would go similar to the following
Caller dials main DID - > DID Busy (ext 500) -> Short hunt to rollover key (ext 501) -> If no answer -> Rolls over into voice mail for ext 500.

My question is how would I program the last part of going into the ext 500 voice mail? I was thinking that if I had ext700 (ext for voicemail) above their rollover line, it would then automatically forward to voice mail, but I’m not sure if that will put them in the x500 or x501 voice mail, or if it would even work since it’s a “feature” button.

I hope I haven’t confused what I’m trying to do, and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks much!
Joseph Sak.

in the TNB set FDN fro unanswered calls
and HUNT for busy calls

so if a set is busy and you need to send calls to mail, and if your mail access number is 8000
then HUNT 8000 needs to be set Colin

Colin thanks you very much for your quick reply, and I have a few more questions:
I know the FDN is the Flexile Call Forward No Answer DN
But I don’t know what the TNB stands for.

Going on what you said, I put the FDN to the rollover line, and I sent the Hunt to 700 (our voicemail number). But when I went to test it out, I called the DID (x747) and it just dumped me directly into voice mail when the line was busy and didn’t transfer to x309(the secondary rollover which it needs to do.

Any ideas as to what I might be doing wrong?

i might have figured it out. I put the Hunt to the rollover number, then the CAllforward NA to the 700 and it seems to have worked. going to test it with some other stations and external lines

thanks for the point in the right direction :)
