Question about Flash Backgrounds and Copyright Laws!

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone out there is familiar with the web site

If you are you will notice that there are a lot of Galleries with pictures and backgrounds and animations and so on. I was wondering if they were copyrighted and if it is illegal to take a picture or animation or background and put it in web page of your own or even make aweb page for some.

Also I was wondering if it legal to take a copyrighted picture and distort it eg. using Adobe Photoshop Glass effect or Ripple effect and use it on your web page.

Can you be sued for any of this stuff?

Please let me know. I don't want to get into any trouble.

As far as I know, if you distort a picture so it becomes unrecognisable as the original, you're pretty safe from copyright. Otherwise, you need permission.

Of course you may decide that the odds of anyone who cares actually looking at your site are low enough to take the chance ... they need to catch you before they can sue you! And even then, are they going to waste all that money just to sue a small-time private user ... ?

If you want to stay on the level, abide by the copyright laws. If you're not that bothered, assess the risks and make your decisions. I personally would rather not take the chance ... but that's just my position - insufferable goody-goody! _____________________________________________________

Actually I have to worry , casue am thinking of going into the Web designing Business. I'll bemaking web pages for other companies if I do.

Is not that I want to totally use othet people stuff completely.. is just that sometimes I see great designs that I like and I wanna chnage the colours and Distort it a bit.

Does anyone know how distorted it should be.

An does Inverting the colours count as distortion or chnaging it?
