Hello to all-

I was just wondering, after you install Exchange 2007 properly does the feature to manage the user's exchange settings (Exchange tools) still remain in ADUC? This is where you drill down to individual user and find his/her Exchange tab on a DC.

Or has that feature changed. Also, can I get away with installing any of the Exchange 2007 roles onto a child domain controller, again the physical resources for this company server-wise are limited.

Thank you for any suggestions here..

No, it does not appear in ADUC. Management of recipients is done through either the Exchange Management Console or the Exchange Management Shell.

Installing Exhange on a domain controller has never been recommended. It should go on a member srver. This is for both performance and security reasons.

Plan for performance, and capacity takes care of itself. Plan for capacity, and suffer poor performance.

If the physical resources are limited, do away with child domains and use the child DC as the Exchange server.

Zelandakh,

More servers were purchased, expressing to management that scalability is key and as a business that is looking to "thrive" according to him, we need resources.. The domain has been setup WIndows 2008 Standard (at the moment it it's domain level is Win2k3 mixed mode) until we migrate users from the other little disparate win2k3 "business" domains sitting on Windows 2k3 into this new forest.

Plan to use ADMT v.3 -used it this past Fall on another project (made 2 way trust, worked out DNS forwarding etc) and worked rather well...

If you would like to recommend a better tool or process please express your thoughts as you so gracefully do. I appreciate all of it!

I don't understand your response. I was replying to your comment about being limited on hardware resource by suggesting that you use a DC from your child domain as an Exchange server.

Can you clarify what you mean?

Zelandakh,

Yes sorry, my reply was out of sequence somewhat.

I liked your suggestion based on this company's initial limitaion on hardware resources for Exchange where you stated to just use the DC from the child in order to deploy Exchange.

Well the company was recently convinced otherwise... hence new hardware will be on the way very shortly in order to divvy up the Exchange roles a bit.

I should have started a new thread on ADMT and in the right forum as well. This was more a Win2k8 question after all..
