I was looking into start coding with vb.net. Well I heard from an instructor that .net takes some part from VB and some from C/C++. I have studied both as seperate entities. I was wondering what was the most outstanding change in VB.NET from VB 6.0??? Also I would like to know do the codes work well together, allowing for smooth coding throughout without having to switch styles too much??? Any insight / advice would be helpful for someone trying decide whether to get it or not.

If I take a peek in your Windows, to fix a problem, does that make me a "Peeping Tom"? Hmmmmmmmmmmv [pc1][shocked]

The most outstanding difference between VB.net and VB6 in my opinion is that you have the entire base class library at your fingertips in .net. You will probably find that you no longer need to write as many of your own utility functions, and don't need as many API calls.

In terms of syntactical difference, it's all a matter of opinion. VB.net is fairly backwardly compatible with VB6 - code pasted in will run most of the time. There is a conversion wizard utility, but the advice seems to be not to use it.

In terms of personal career development, I would go for .net
