does anyone know if the command chkdsk /f will mark bad sectors so that they are no longer accessable for writing?

If you want to identify and repair physical disk errors, use the SCANDISK command.

Dprello

Dprello, there is no Scandisk on Windows 2000.

Arliehedges, use chkdsk /r to repair bad sectors.
