Hi all, I'm considering buying a Bluetooth enabled PDA (HP iPaq H2210/H2215). This PDA is a Class 2 type Bluetooth device, which says that it has an operating range of 10 meters. I'm also likely going to get a USB to Bluetooth connection for my PC so that it can interact with the PDA.

My question, if I get a Class 1 (100 meter) Bluetooth dongle for my PC, will it be interoperable with my Class 2 PDA? If so, will I still be restricted to only the 10 meter radius that the PDA Bluetooth can operate in or will I get the larger range (which I realize will likely be much less than 100 meters) from the PC?

I'm not real familiar as to how all this works and would appreciate any input that could be given. Thanks! -- Mike

hte device classes are generally the transmit power and hence the range of coverage ...
and generally a higher power source can mask/ degrade a low power signal

i hope i'm not tooo vague

Hi Guggly,
I also have a HP 2210, but haven't used the bluetooth aspects yet (I need another bluetooth device and my wife won't let me, she says I have too many 'toys' already!).

But I've have a wireless network at home and with a compact flash wireless card, I can -
- surf the internet
- download & install software
- listen / watch web broadcasts
- send / receive emails
- sync with my home computer
- transfer file via a networked folder
- send / receive messages with MSN Messenger
- via VNC, control my home computer

I should also be able to print using the printer connected to my home computer, but that doesn't seem to work... yet.

I'm sure I could do much of this with bluetooth and would be interested to know how you get on.

Roger...
