I have a pentium 60 processor (yes, it's verry old but its optimized for linux) The cooler is smaller than the cpu! The cool paste is not strong enough too hold the cpu on the cooler because it's an mini-tower and not an desktop computer!

What is the best way too place it steady???

Hi

You can replace the cooling fan with new one available for higher capacity cpu fans. Ensure that the side clips suit your motherboard socket size. This will be better idea, since the new fans cooling will be better than those of earlier days made for slower CPUs. The cooling fans should not cost you more than a couple of dollars.

Hope this helps :)

Cooling on a P60 is just not an issue, if you don't mind a bit of a bodge then thoughly clean the chip and heatsink surfaces, put a small amount of heatsink paste in the centre of the heatsink, spread it so that it leaves a clean 5mm band around the outside edge, mix and apply something like Araldite Epoxy resin around the edge, seat and apply pressure with a twisting motion back and forth, leave to set.
Sounds like baking a cake! lol Martin
