Hi guys,

I recently picked up a G430 with a S8300D, when I connect through to the service port *crossover* and hit 192.11.13.6, I'm prompted for a user. Now from what I can tell the pass defaults should be root/root, however that doesnt work, and I try ggdaseuaimhrke and that doesn't work either.

The seller stated it was tested, but i'm wondering if they just plugged it in, made sure it was working and just didnt bother to check access or reset the thing.

Can I gain access to this? I'm certified for avaya IP office, but I figured i'd give this device a try as I'd like to get an understanding of this product so I can certify for it but i'm having a hard time getting the ball rolling on this.

Any help would be appreciated wholeheartedly!

Tested" vs "defaulted" vs "you being able to get into it" are 3 different things. Some credentials that you mention reflect the G450 access. Are you plugging into the G450 services port or the s8300 services port? G450 gives you access to the gateway, s8300 gives you access to CM. Not sure exactly what you are trying to do with this equipment as there is a great chance it may be the remnants of a branch survivable site. Depending on the version, it's not likely there could be any default passwords active if it was ever a licensed production system. You would likely have to default and start from scratch to turn it into a lab system which can often be a chore itself.

yes, labbing with it is precisely what i'm trying to do, I'd like to add it to my IP500 and CME environment.

I'm beginning to see how much of a pain this one might be. Lots of conflicting info I guess, I just want to default the entire thing and start from scratch.

I appreciate you taking the time to reply.

I'm plugging into the S8300 service port.

@Lopes, think you can throw me a bone here? I've been messing around and I just keep finding the same information regarding the defaulting of a G430/s8300d, you think I'm just password locked out of this thing?

I read defaulting it with the usb/cdrom method should work, what do you think? or anyone really?

I recommend you NVRAM init it. Pull the cover off the top, look for a small plastic jumper (look for J3801 or J701 depends on the version) and move jumper to the pins closest to the front of the G430 and power it up. Wait 5 minutes then power it down and move the jumper back. Place the cover back on and power it back up. This will default all the settings. Connect your laptop to the services port login root password root. Then you can run the wizard to configure it.

check this link for FW version of MG that allows default password for root

Also if you want default logins and passwords for the s8300D, you can use Avaya software CD to erase hard drive and re-image with new software.
This process allows you to using logins and passwords that you setup during an install.
