Rasterize the text and start playing around with the included Filters and Layer Styles. Usually you will be able to create very cool text with what is included and not have to spend anymore money.
When I first started using PS (version 4), I thought that Filters where the best thing ever, now that I am getting more familiar with PS (currently using CS), I realize that you can do almost anything with what is included!
Illustrator CS has an excellent 3D filter(if you have it).
As JEG78 says you can make 3D like effects with different combinations of filters, layer styles and transform that will cover a lot of what you want.
Or you could get a 3D app that will render and save images with an Alpha channel (though that can make editing the text laborious, as you will have to edit the text in the 3D app an render again!).
Good look
Moe: It could have been a real ugly situation, but luckily I managed to shoot him in the spine.
