I am trying to setup a query that would look in the registry to see if a string is present in the HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\windows\currentversion\run

For the life of I am stuck and cannot figure this onme out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Writing a query to get registry information out of SMS requires you to have SMS configured to inventory using the Registry Provider for WMI. This requires a modified MOF file that tells the client to provide the information on each Hardware Inventory Cycle.

Do you know if your SMS Site's MOF file has been edited to use the Registry Provider?

If your Site is using the Registry Provider, then you should already know the "Group" name that you used to label the registry key you are inventorying. This Group name is what is displayed in the SMS Admin Console when you are trying write a query.
