Client site has a number of extns dead, tech at site suspects the Peripheral Buffer card is shot.

The tech has identified the card as DLBFR - is this correct? And what does the DLBFR card do, anyway?

That's a QPC659 DL BFR CONTROLLER

Ask him for the letter that follows the QPC659 card number. The system is old and it might matter.

Any tech that didn't know to give you the "QPC" card identification probably does not know how to enable the shelf either.

Before you go too far, make sure he has re-seated the card, and done a LD 32 ENLS on the shelf.

Thanks for that.

Card number is QPC659C - dos that tell you much? (Clearly, I know bugger all about Nortels).

Tech has already tried the ENLS for the shelf, no help. Tech says he is can't disable any card in the shelf - PABX says card disabled, but card LED does not go out (same for all cards in shelf).

Any ideas? Tech believe the DLBFR cards is at fault...

I think you mean "the tech cannot enable any card on shelf - the lights stay on"

If he has re-seated the card and (if there is a reset button on the card, pressed it) and nothing will enable, then your choices are:

Get a new card or
Move all the TNs to other shelves.

that is older then dirt.. disable the network card... and the xpe (dnxp x) then enxp x and watch the download msgs for the shelf..

if you disc 4 0 5, then stat 4 0 5, the switch says the card is disabled.. lamp is still dark.. the card can be reseated.. it is disabled.. just to hosed up to respond to the dis command.. backing it out will not ini the box.. in a larger style box

in an opt 11.. it may ini.. or restart or catch on fire.. i don't care for 11's btw
