I have produced a query using 2 tables current stock & stock history. When I retrieve results from current stock only I recieve 98 results. If I drop a field from the history table in the query I get 399 results.Ok this is probably correct, but if I then remove this field and re-run the query I still get 399 results from what is in fact the original query which should give me 98 results.Yet if i then sort the results a-z, the results drop to 98 again without re-running the query
please help

The most likely explanations are either i) you are carrying out an inner join, and/or ii) more likely, you are involving nulls. Have you got any selection criteria. Cut and paste the SQL so we can see.
