Been looking for some starting points, i have seen a application on a db that has a secure web page with three fields on it (system ID, Telephone No, Postcode)a remote engineer fills these in, once sent back to a db it then sends him all the information on the site he is at.

Has anybody done this, looking for a starting point.

Think i might have to read up on ASP web pages.

Thanks

What the heck, might as well mention it. How about data access pages(DAPS)?

This area is very new to me, where would i find DAPS, and would this do what i am hoping to acheive ?

Thanks

Since you're in an Access forum, I'll assume you're talking about an Access database. When you open an Access database, on the left you'll see the Access objects - tables, queries, forms, reports, macros, and pages. Well, the page object is where you'll build your DAP's. It would best help if you read a book or online articles on DAP's first before asking tek-tips a question a minute. Also, if you use the search feature of this forum on DAP or "data access page" it'll give you some ideas of what you're in for.
Just remember, DAP's are WEB pages, they have an extension of .htm. They are not Access. They are not like Forms. They live in the Internet Explorer environment and are coded in JScript or VBScript.
Both DAP's and ASP will do what you want.

Thanks for the reply, but you suggested something which i had not heard or know anything about, your right i will read up on DAP, but your comment

"It would best help if you read a book or online articles on DAP's first before asking tek-tips a question a minute"

Have i really posted every minute ? i can only see two post's above from me are they are more than a minute apart.

BTW thanks for suggesting a different approach, now learning something new.

I think that you may find that ASP and ASP.Net is more portable, however, it all depends on where you see this going.

No,no. Please don't take it as a comment on your posts, they were most appropriate. What I met was that sometimes people who don't first take the initiative in doing prerequisite reading or reserach in Access use tek-tips as their own personal tutor from scratch. It was more of a warning that DAP's or ASP can be quite daunting and takes time and study to create something useful. I should have phrased it differently. My apologies.
