I'm trying to execute a query but it keeps coming up with:-

'qappLT_MM_Bulk_-_Basic_Data_from_MM' is not a valid name. Make sure that it does not include invalid characters or punctuation and that it is not too long

I have other queries with the same naming convention and they run fine, for example:-

qappLT_MM_Bulk_-_Basic_Data_Long_from_MM

Any ideas?

Regards,

J.

The name you posted works for me in Access 2000, forgive me, but are you sure that is the exact name, including all spaces etc?

Yes, I cut and pasted it.

I've retyped the name several times

qappLT_MM_Bulk_-_Basic_Data_From_MM

I've zoomed it in the macro
I've pasted the name into Notepad which usually displays a square when an unrecognised character is there...

I counted the characters (less than 64)

I've tried everything I can think of, but the query still will NOT run. It ran yesterday morning, but since then I've just been getting this error message.

Regards,

J.

What about all the repair and decompile stuff, you have been through that? And checked the name is in the system table? [ponder]

I've given up on this problem. I just rename the query to "x" and execute it, it works then...

Thanks for the suggestions, but I'm leaving this one unresolved until someone can suggest a cure ;-)

Hello,

Did you get anywhere with this problem? I'm having the same, exact problem with a query I've been running successfully for months then, today, I get this 'not a valid name' error.

The problem continued for about a week and then just went away. I didn't do anything with the filename, but eventually the macro just ran it without complaining.

Sorry I can't help you, maybe time will cure your problem too!

Needless to say, Access is NOT my favourite database...
