Hello,

I have a Query that is very complex and is based on several checkboxes and date parameters. When I attempt to run the query it completely locks the database I am working with. I am the only one in the database at the time so it is not a record lock.

If anyone can help or give suggestions I will be eternally greatful!

Thanks in Advance,

Access is a computer dependant program.
The bigger it gets the more computer you need.
PII/III 450 with 128 meg RAM

Otherise if the database is on the network try moving it temporarily to your C:drive and see if it will work there.
Try Compacting it too.
click 'Tools', 'Database utilities', 'Compact database'

Thank you for the suggestion. I have tried running this database on multiple systems, all above a 350 processor and 128Mb RAM. This database is not on the network.

I have noticed a consistancy with this problem. I have a "print preview" button on this search form also. When I click this print preview button, close the preview window, and them run the query, it works fine. After i have clicked the print preview button once, the search query works fine until I exit the databse and reenter, and then it freezes Access again. (Sounds weird to me too!)

Please let me know if you have any more suggestions,

Thank you,
Jeremy

Are you working with several tables? I have worked on a similar problem. I had a query that looked in several tables and every time I tried to run it it crashed my system. I solved this by seperating this into several queries that put the results into a temporary table used that table to run the report then after the report was run I deleted the data in the temporary table.

Yes, as a matter of fact. I am using two tables. I fixed the issue by sepatating them into 2 separate querys. Seems to work slick now. Thanks for the input!
