When I try to open a query (even in design mode) I get the following error:

The Microsoft Jet database engine stopped the process because you and another user are attempting to change the same data at the same time

I get the same message if I try to copy and paste the query. Also, if I try to export it to another db or import it from another one. What the heck has happened. It worked for years. None of the other queries are doing this. I verified that nobody else was using the database while trying to do this.

It worked for years
And absolutely NO CHANGE ?
Have you tried with one of your backup ?

Hope This Helps, PH.

A corrupt ldb file maybe? exit the db, check if the ldb is still there. If so, delete it.

I already checked the ldb...it does dissapesr when I close the db. This is actually not my db. It is a colleague's. I will suggest that she checks a backup.

...how do you copypaste the query? Did you try copypasting the sqlcode into a new "fresh" query?

Also,

What is the query queriing? Linked tables maybe? Some txt or excel file?

How do I get to the sql? - remember that I cannot open it in design mode. I think she is querying tables within the same db.

Already tried that...It does not work. I get he same error message. I'm stumped...

If there is any help for this, I'd like to know. I'm having the same problem, also working for months with no change. What I'm running a quesry for it total hours worked in a week for a payroll database.

In the form used to enter hours, time is calculated from stoptime-starttime, then saved to that record. The query takes that number and adds it to those from any previous records for the same person for the same week and updates it to the form to be seen as you update. (A running sum if you will.)

I have experiencend queries becoming corrupt - with as result me rewriting them...

What might work is opening/importing athe db into a higher access version (if possible ofcourse). My access 2003 has helped me determine troubles in a A2000 db.
