Using CR10, CE10 on Linux, and connecting to an Oracle 9i database with native Oracle driver.

I created one report, and it works fine when run directly from CR10 and from CE10.

I created another report, and it also works fine when run directly from CR10. I published it to CE10, and when run or previewed from the CMS, I receive a "Query Engine Error. File filename.rpt" error. The report continues to run okay directly from CR10.

The reports are very similar although they do use different dataset views. I've republished the report, removed the parameter to see if that was a problem, updated or verified the datasource, and re-compiled the view, and probably a couple of other ideas I found on previous postings, but to no avail.

Any other ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

Your connectivity is correct, so I would guess that there's something amiss in the View that's confusing Crystal.

One of my standard tricks is to place Crystal Reports on the same box as CE because it gives better error messages.

You should also make sure that your Service Packs are up to date:

Before you publish the report again make sure that you do a Verify Database as well.

I would suggest saving directly from CR, not using the publishing wizard, there's an icon in the lower left of the save dialog that says Enterprise, use that.

Hopefully something here will click.

Thank you for your response.

Connectivity does appear correct. When the report is run or previewed, the database login screen appears, and when the correct credentials are entered, that screen closes and the single parameter screen opens. The "Query Engine Error" appears after the parameter screen.

The view for this report runs fine in the database utility TOAD. It is similar in construction to the view used in the first report.

Service Packs are up to date.

Deleted the report from CE, opened it in CR, verified the database (it responded it was up to date), and republished it directly from CR to CE (I've never had a need to use the publishing wizard). Same problem.

Nothing clicking yet, but appreciate your response.

Thanks to both of you for your suggestions. Our CE10 is running on a Linux box, so as far as I know, I cannot install CR10 on the same box.

Nonetheless, I think I may have found the solution - the Service Packs were not up to date. I originally published the report to our production version of CE10, which has not had SP4 installed. When I published the report to our test version of CE10 (with SP4), it worked without any errors. Therefore, I'm waiting for our Linux Administrator to install SP4 on the production version, and I should be good to go.
