Dear All,

I wish to be able to query an arcserve database regardless of whether it is.

I know the database can sit on its own DB or on a SQL server, but as we use both mechanisms in place i would like to know how to run queries against the DB on SQL (Which i guess is easy) but also its own database format (come to think of it, what database system does it use?)

Many Thanks in advance

Arcserve uses raima as its default database. As far as querying the db, there are built in reports, or you can also get third party add ons which expand on the db query functions. Using SQL for the arcserve db will allow you greater query possibilities but is unsupported by CA support so good in house SQL skills are recommended.

If you install the Manager on your workstation you can remotely control any ARCserve server.

If you just want to find out about what was backed up there is Restore by Query.
