Good Morning:

When using Query Analyzer with the Developers' Edition of SQL Server 2000, on my XP Pro, Office 2003 desktop, the "Alter" item in the shortcut menu is disabled when viewing the "Script Object to ..." shortcut menus, after right clicking a table name in the object pane. For instance, I right click the dbo.Customers table in the Northwind db to view the menu items. My user account is Administrator, with Windows Authentication mode.

I have installed and re-installed the SQL Server 2000 Developer's edition with Service Pack 3a several times.

My problem is the "Alter" table menu item being disabled.

Thank you in advance for helping me.

Sincerely,

The Script Object To shortcut menu's when you right click on an object are part of the SQL 2005 GUI, not the SQL 2000 GUI.

The ALTER To option becomes available when you are going to script out a stored procedure, function, etc. Bascially the stuff under programmability.

The scripting option in SQL 2000 is a popup window where you select the objects and move them to the left then click ok.
