Hi there, odd issue, and I'm hoping someone can help.

I just installed the admin console on a freshly imaged laptop last week, and starting yesterday, the collections, packages and queries are no longer populating. When you load the console, the "icons" are there to expand the fields, but when you attempt to expand, it acts as if it's loading/populating, and then remains empty.

Any ideas what might be causing this issue?

Rights usually or possibly the wrong version of the console.
Could also be the wrong mmc version on the laptop You need 3.0 I believe.

Also I would think it would need an SMS client on it if it didnt have one (never actually tried to install the console without a sms client on it, so its just a thought)

Client is installed on both machines (installed it on a second laptop last night, same issue).

I got THAT particular issue resolved by turning off the Windows firewall, and adjusting a DCOM setting:

In DCOMCNFG.EXE :

Console Root -> Component Services -> Computers -> My Computer, Action, Properties

In the Properties window, selected the COM Security tab, Access Permissions -> Edit Limits

Granted "Anonymous Logon" "Allow" on "Remote Access"

This enabled the queries to populate.

Of course, now, I'm getting a goofy "Logon Failure: The target account name is incorrect." error when attempting to browse to these machines.

Not a big deal - I can still access them by their IP, just not their hostname. I'd rather have this issue, than the SMS Admin Console not functional.

Alright - just wanted to follow-up. It appears my logon failure error was completely unrelated. We had a major DNS issue earlier that got resolved, and everything is working fine now.
