i have a copy of quark 4 that i picked up from a friend when he was getting out of the design business. as far as i know everything is nice and legal, but i have never registered the product, and i have no idea if he did when he first purchased it. i was thinking of upgrading now to version 6, with one of their upgrade options. will i run into problems if i haven't registered version 4, or if it is registered under someone else's name?

Call their sales department and ask. I'm sure that they'll be happy to talk to you about it and even give you more than one call. As long as you have a serial number that is valid from THAT DISK, then your upgrade purchase should be fine.
