I want to know if I can run multiple copies of quark in my small business or will I need a multiple user license. If I need a licence where do I get quark and the multiple user license and copies from? Does anyone know where, or how, or how much?
Thanx!
Legaly you will need a different copy for each computer, which you can get directly from Quark or mail-order. If you use the same Quark on all your machines you won’t be able to share a networked printer since every 30 seconds or so Quark checks your network for any serial number that matches. If it finds a match it disables itself. I believe that Quark is site licencing for over 5 copies now.

Is this true of the Quark 5.0 as well? I inadvertently installed it twice and it doesn't seem to be problematic. Not that I'd encourage anyone...

There exist a network license. One application that can be used by however many licenses you purchase. The network better be a snappy one though! Let freedom ring!

One licence means one Mac. If you install it twice it is technically illegal. You won't be able to run it on both Macs at the same time if they are networked. You can run it on both if they are not networked but it is illegal.

This is true for all versions of Quark - you can see it broadcasting if you run any Network checking utilities.

Site licences for Quark are available from your VAR or direct from Quark and are approx $1,000 per user, subject to a minimum of 5 users.

zelandakh is absolutely correct, however when I wrote of about a network license I did not state the correct verbiage. I should have said "Server Application". I worked at a magazine with 22 MAC and 12 PC were all hooked up to an NT Server. We had two versions of Quark -- one PC and one MAC with the necessary licensing. Of cource we were operating a gigabit network. Let freedom ring!
