Hello!

I have been using Quarkexpress 4.03 on my tangerine iBook for two years. Last year I bought a Powerbook, but have continued using my iBook for Quark as I didn't care to run it in Classic on the Powerbook. I am ready now to do what I must to use Quark in OSX, and wonder what my options are?

I have hundreds of layouts in 4.03....will these all "transfer" if I upgrade or get the newest version of Quark?

I have read reviews of the 6.0 version and they make it sound dreadful...have you found this to be so? Is 6.5 a better choice?

I would appreciate any advice on upgrading/purchasing 6.0 or higher or tips, in general, for continuing to use Quark in Classic, if that is a viable option (tho' I am having trouble with my fonts showing up in Classic...that is what started me on this path to figuring out the best solution!).

Thanks very much!

I've moved our small studio of 6 users from 4.11 on OS9 through 4.11 in classic and on to Quark 6 under OSX with very few problems.
The skill levels of our users range from intermediate to advanced and the only issues we have had have been around fonts, which to be fair was not a problem with Quark.

I'd say go for it. Quark 6 is actually very good.

Version 6.0 was missing a feature we used a lot--when you double click on a picture and it opens up in the Illustration application, such as Illustrator. But, there was a fix later for it that you can download. So, if you used that in 4.11, you will need that in 6.0. I upgraded to 6.0 from Quark at home, and it came with the 6.5 upgrade, which includes the fix. I haven't used it too much yet. We have one copy at work, but it is in the early testing stages, so I haven't had much hands-on use. Those who have do have pretty positive comments.
