Quark error 6, 2 copies with same #

Tried to network (ethernet) a Mac and a PC to use one printer received message that two copies of quark are running, only have quark on the mac. Restored the mac to normal, no network, quark still gives me the message that two copies are running. I now learned quark and ethernet don't match. The mac is an old 7500, quark is 4.04
How do I restore quark so I can use it again?
