Can anyone tell me how to get Quark 7 (with Sys X) to display the fonts
(in the font list) as they actually print out?

My older Quark 5 (with Sys 9) displayed these fonts, as they really are,
but I think I had put in a control panel, or something, that made it do it.

Thanks so much.

Hi BigJimm
I'm using a demo of Quark 7.3 on OS 10.3.10, and it doesn't look like Quark 7 allows you to show the fonts as they are in the font menu.
Unless you can find an extension for that, I guess you might have to use the Font Book to preview the fonts. It allows you to customize and type in a phrase or paragraph to match the font you are looking for.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply. Just remembered: the feature I’m looking for is WYSIWYG
which programmers have had for YEARS!

Word also has it and I bet many other writing programs do too.

It’s hard to imagine that such a sophisticated program as Quark - whose whole
purpose is “writing creativity” - wouldn’t have this minor font feature.

I guess I could get something like Masterjuggler or Suitcase .. but that seems
like so much OVERLOAD .. just to get that one little feature.

I have heard about two other little programs that “may” do this: Font Card and
You Control Fonts. Anybody know anything about them?

By the way, a sideline: I’m a new member and when I registered I had to check
a choice. Being pretty much a retired businessman now, who used to use
Quark a LOT, the only category I felt I might fit now was MIS - because
I didn’t know what that was. I thought it might mean “mind in submission”
which would fit me. If it doesn’t mean that .. what DOES it mean? (I could
be tagging myself as a pervert and not realize it.)

I decided to get FontCard for $17.

So far, it works just fine.
