Quark 6.1 crashes when trying to print.

Quark doesn't run on Linux. Your black and white printer... does it print grayscale too?
Does the 1220c have PostScript drivers? Try creating a PDF from Quark and then print the PDF from Acrobat. You probably do not have PostScript running through the printer.
