Just installed a Quantum/ATL M1500 SDLT 220 Tape Library onto a Windows 2000 Server to backup all the users data as well as the servers. The backup software is ArcServe 2000 Advanced with SP3 installed.
My problem is that I should easily be expecting 500Mb/Min+ backed up over the network and 1100Mb/Min+ when backing up the server that the library is connected to. At the moment I am only getting 350Mb/Min over the network and 800Mb/Min frmo the local server. AND when I do a restore I only manage to get a tiny 150Mb/Min restoring to the local server.
The servers I am using are all Compaq Proliants and all above a PII 400, 400Mb RAM and 7,200rpm drives. The server that the library is connected to is an ML530, 1Gb RAM, 800MHz Xeon, 3x36Gb 10,000rpm drives!! All servers are connected at 100Mb Full Duplex.
Can anyone help as this unit cost me £17,000+ and I can't use it as it is slower than the existing DLT 40/80 units!!
Cheers
