Hi,

just as 1 year guarantee period has expired ... two out of four 4223 phones that we have at the moment started to work improperly. The same thing on both phones :

When I lift the handset I don't have an immediate exit on Line1, I have to press Line1 button. And also, to end the conversation which I started, it isn't enough to put the handset down, now I have to press C button.

Also, when making a call with a handset on hook. I dial the number but then I have to press the speakerphone button because it doesn't activate automaticaly as it should and as it did during this past year.

I'm interested to know how content you are with your 4223 phones ? Do they serve you well, or you have to repair them often ...

Hi,

it could be that the 'headset mode' is activated on the phone.

try pushing the speaker button for at least 4 seconds...

we have +/- 300 dbc4223 phones here with no problems whatsoever.

if you're still having problems, check your firmware revision with key combination (key keys pushed) <C * 4>

exit this mode with pound key

Could it be that the hookswitch is faulty? If the hookswitch is stuck down then you wiil also need to push the buttons because the phone will think the handset is still in the cradle.

to whosrdaddy :

Hi, we checked the headset mode - it wasn't activated.

I checked <C*4> and it gave the following result:
CAA 1580026 R3M Selftest OK.

What does this number mean ? And does this mean that the phone is ok?

to slash50 :

We also think there is something wrong with the hookswitch, although it doesn't look stuck (i see no obvious change in how it moves, maybe it's something inside the phone)

Anyway, we'll take it to repair service ... i just wanted to check that maybe the phone is ok and something wrong with the settings ...

It is also strange that the speakerphone won't activate by itself when making a call with the handset in the cradle ...

Hi,

It seems to me the hookswitch problem...
I faced similar problems on Dailog 4186 & both of these models have similar bodies so i preassume you got the same fault...

Its being reported to Ericsson as maufacturing defect for the quality of material used under Hook switch...well i have the confirmation for replacement for free...may be you can ask for same...

cheers

The 32xx's had a similar problem. The spring under the hookswitch would move out of place, it was very simple to unscrew the back cover of the phone and re-seat the spring.

I do not have any 4223 phones so cannot check the internals of the phone. Maybe you could take the back cover off and see if there's something obvious???
