I have a question for some of you VOIP gurus. I have a CS1000e that continuously spits out QOS007 and QOS009 messages. I have played around with the QOS thresholds in LD 117 but I'm not seeing them decrease. We aren't experiencing poor call quality so I was hoping to just mask the errors by changing the thresholds. Does anyone have any suggestions?

QoS packet loss: [packet loss value that exceeds unacceptable threshold],
[sourceIP:source port], [source TN], [source zone], [destination IP:destination
port], [destination TN], [destination zone]. where:
packet loss value = percentage of packets not received
source TN = originating set’s TN in l s c u format (large system) or c u format
(small system)
destination TN = terminating set’s TN in l s c u format (large system) or c u
format (small system)
Note: This alarm is reported on the Call Server.

Error should show a TN also - Suspect you have a user (probably off site) that is loosing some packets do to poor network or no QOS priority.

Yep agree with Reusser - we have a VP that uses a softphone at another site which has their own CS1000 but they have to be on our new CS1000 because they monitor the agents so I just saw similar QoS errors because they were having quality issues during the conversation. I went to the network engineers and they DO NOT have QoS configured over the WAN, so you may want to check if your network has that configured. Even if you have 100 MEG pipe you STILL need QoS tagging for VOICE!!!! Voice always need priority over data and some NetEng don't get it!! :D They just treat it like data and think that being segemented on another VLAN is good enough.

Thanks guys. Yes there are media gateways in other parts of town and in other cities so I will ask IT department if QOS is implemented or if it is just using a VLAN.

Also remember that if they happen to be using a softphone from home that there is NO QoS tagging between their home router and your office/site ... so packets can lose quality over that portion of the voice path as well.
