Hi I have a 2Mb Wimax line to my HO .
I am planning to restrict file sharing to 800Kbps as all my local users will be downloading their files from HO.
I want to apply the policy map in the outbound direction on my WAN interface.
My question is when my File server will be replying to my clients , the traffic will be inbound ( relative to my WAN interface). Then will the downloaded traffic be restricted to 800kps or will the QOS policy be ignored as it is applied outbound?
Is this policy map applicable only if my clients are uploading files???
Thanks
JA

QoS on routers is usually only outbound. The best thing to do is set outbound policy on both routers (at your branch and your hq). You can do this effectively by using an extended acl on both ends to single out traffic. Going to your file server in case of your branch and coming from your file server going to that specific branch office for your hq.
