Hello,
I'm looking for some basic QoS setup for AS400 traffic. I need this traffic to have the highest priority.

I currently have a P2P T1 and a VPN Tunnel that have the same costs between a facility and the corporate office. Traffic flows over both of these links with no issues.

I would like to designate any traffic going to or from the AS400 IP (not just telnet) highest priority, as stated above.

Let's say AS400 = 192.168.1.11

Who can help me? can I only apply this to the Serial interface, not the tunnel?

How can I check to see that it is working?

Thanks in advance.

does your service provider honor your markings?? do they expect your markings to come over using class-selector values or can you use af/ef values?? some providers are looking only for class-selctor values and if you send over something marked as ef, af41, etc. it will be classified as best-effort.

you can apply a QoS policy to an interface that is terminating VPN tunnels. are you using a policy-based vpn (crypto map) or a route-based vpn (tunnel interfaces)? there is no amount of qos that you can do over the Internet as providers will treat it all as best-effort traffic.

I hate all Uppercase... I don't want my groups to seem angry at me all the time! =)

From what I understand, our service provider doesn't look at our traffic on the P2P. I guess I would be either marking the traffic or just relying on NBAR to detect properly.

I would like to make traffic going over the p2p have high priority or a set amount of bandwidth to and from a certain IP or two located at corporate.(of the AS400), would that be easier? Let's ignore the tunnel and focus on the p2p first.

Thanks for replying and trying to help me, lol, i need all the help i can get!
