We've been using sendmail for 3 years. We're going to switch over another MTA which I'm guessing would be qmail or postfix. However, I'm confused what to go for.
The key term we've been looking for is, performance.
I'm not even interested in security, or anything else.
Which one of them can send emails faster to remote destinations on a OC-3 connection with RAID5 Pentium 3 800, and 512MB of RAM.

Thanks a lot..

There are several benchmark tests that show both Postfix and qmail faster than each other. Both are considerably faster than sendmail. The actual speed of your delivery will depend on several of the specifics of your set-up. In general speed shouldn't be a big difference if you tune either of the configurations for speed.

Postfix is more actively "developed" with updates and revisions offered on a regular basis.

Qmail hasn't had an official "update" in several years.

Myself, I kind of like the qmail method of only introducing an upgrade when there are significant changes - but others like the "regular" update strategy.
