In a new install I have qmail, & vpopmail configured for mysql and remote users on RedHat 7.1. Vpopmail successfully creates domains and users in mysql; and mail is correctly received and placed in the created maildir.

But pop users login always fails to authenticate.

Any clues where to look?

Hi.

I got the same problem, i found out that was because the users have to use the mail add. as login name and not there normal login name.

Hope this will help you.

Best regards

Michael Andersen.

Dunnys, thanks for the post - but I'm confused. What is the "mail add. " login name?

Use the full email address as the account name...

However I'm getting the same problem on one of my servers even when I use this, have reset passwds etc but still no joy!!??

Any ideas???

Dronealone,

I solved my problem. I had to increase the softmemory limit in the pop3d run script and I had forgotten to replace "checkpassword" with "vchkpw" in the same script.
