I've had some trouble with our mail server at work and it turns out that it was functioning as an open proxy for some time. I went ahead and closed that up, but i have thousands of emails that are trying to be sent to msn addresses and now msn has blacklisted our ip address. We are not functioning as an open relay any more and I'm asumming that this is because we have thousands of messages in our queue that are just spam awaiting to be sent. I have gone trough and removed the files in /var/qmail/queue/remote & /var/qmail/queue/info & /var/qmail/queue/mess now I am getting entries in our mail log saying "warning: trouble opening remote/19/387431; will try again later" Any ideas as to how to take care of this? I'm at my wits end with the darn mail server =) thanks in advance for any help

Message expire from the queue based upon the value you set for your system in /var/qmail/control/queuelifetime
You should also not have removed messages in the fashion that you have. I recommend looking into the "qmail-remove" tool from Linux Magic. It's too late now, but you may have other messages you want to remove properly.
