Qmail messages in queue grows too fast

I recently had my mail server come to a stop. There were nearly 400,000 messages in my qmail queue and 200,000 not preprocessed. Because of this mail wasn't being delivered to my users. I recovered by stopping qmail, deleting all the mail not there for a reason, and starting qmail up again. My queue grows at almost 50 messages per second. This seems like a very fast rate since I only host 14 small domains. I look through the queue and most the mail is addressed to domains I don't host. What is wrong and how can I fix it?

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I am running RedHat 9, Qmail, Imap-courier and Plesk 7 as admin package.

You're probably being used an open relay by spammers or you have a customer who is a spammer or MASSIVE email list volume sender. You need to shut down your mail server and read about configuring qmail.
