We have upgraded some pc's to Windows XP. The problem that we are having is the CL program that executes MSWORD from the RUNRMTCMD opens the document in read only mode. We have 'FINALLY' discovered that if RUNRMTCMD (on these XP machines)opens a document from QDLS - it is read only. If the RUNRMTCMD opens the document from the IFS -- all works fine. I'm really not interested in moving these thousands & thousands of documents to the IFS this weekend - I'm more interested in finding out ..... anyone else doing something of this nature and having any problems with it--with XP machines??

Are you accessing QDLS through NetServer? If so go into Ops Nav under your system in File Systems | File Shares. Right click on the QDLS share and choose Properties. There is an option for "Read Only" or "Read/Write". See if that works.

I assign the shares from within the NetServer and the property for these shares are all set to read/write.

Thanks for your interest in this post, keep the questions coming, maybe we can figure this out........

Also, I want to add that our Windows 2000 & Windows NT machines have no problem when the RUNRMTCMD executes, the MSWORD documents open with read/write authority - it is only these new XP machines that we are experiencing this problem.
